String Tension

Understanding the differences and importance of string tension is not difficult.

Essentially, the higher the string tension, the more ball control a player has when the ball connects . The inverse is then true.

The issue then simply becomes which is more suited to your game and the racket you are using. Most professional players use a small racket head and high string tension, but there is no uniform code and should always be tailored to an individual's game.

Identify the area of your game you need to improve; do you have power, or control? If you need more control, begin at the higher end of string tension (78lbs) and work backwards in .5lb increments. The opposite is then true; if you need more power, start at the lower end of the spectrum (55lbs) and work up. By experimenting, you will soon find the perfect string tension for your game.
